Below is important information related to registration for this year’s National Convention. Please make sure you review this information before you register. Should you have any questions, please contact Executive Director Jarrod Cruz.

 

REGISTRATION OPTIONS

IMG_7004There are some additional options that can be purchased during the registration process. The following events are open to non-brothers and may be purchased during the registration process by brothers.

Any brother not registering for the National Convention may attend and can purchase tickets through another link.

 

 

 


ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT POLICY

The following comes from the Administrative Policy Manual (pg. 47-48). If you should have any questions, please contact your Sector Vice President.

  1. A Chapter/Colony with 4 Active Undergraduate Brothers or less is required to send 1 delegate
  2. A Chapter/Colony with 5 Active Undergraduate Brothers or more is required to send 2 delegates
  3. A Chapter/Colony designated to be a Retention Chapter / Colony is required to send 1 delegate

Required Attendance for All New Inductees
All previous summer, fall, winter and spring inductees must attend the annual National Brotherhood Conference for mandatory training (e.g. summer 2015, fall 2015, winter 2016, and spring 2016 must attend the 2016 National Convention).

CODE OF CONDUCT/ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS

Remember that we all abide by the Brotherhood Code of Conduct before, during and after the conference. Make sure that you are always on your best behavior, even when no one is looking. Be respectful of all hotel and law enforcement personnel and brothers in leadership positions throughout the duration of our stay in Miami and Miami Beach. There will be hired security at the hotel, because we want to make sure our brothers are safe and get to their rooms safely for the night.

All brothers, whether registered for the convention or not, are responsible for their behavior as well as the behavior of their guests. Any brothers who are found responsible for violations of the Code of Conduct, local or state laws, etc. will be asked to leave the hotel and return home at their own personal costs. All violators will be required to face disciplinary action with their Sector or Regional Judicial Boards.

SAFETY
Please remember that your safety is everyone’s top priority. Please make sure to stay in group and have a buddy. Additionally, make sure that you travel safely and use Uber/designated drivers when possible if you are traveling and enjoying the nightlife.

Brothers who have a smartphone can download the LambdaCon16 app on both Apple and Android devices. Updates, announcements and changes to the schedule will be made through the app as well.

The Deauville Beach Resort will host over 300 brothers for the 2016 National Convention. The location is a perfect setting as we celebrate 40 years as the Leaders of the Latino Greek Movement. The Beatles launched their historic career on the Ed Sullivan Show which was filmed on the stage in the main ballroom. This year, Lambda Theta Phi will honor and celebrate our historic 40 years on that same very stage.

The convention will provide several workshop opportunities that cater to both Undergraduate and Alumni brothers. The purpose of these workshops is to provide our fraternal leaders with the premier leadership experience and cutting edge educational opportunities that will enable them to build and develop their leadership skills as individuals and as community leaders.

BEHIND HAPPY FACES
This year’s convention will feature Mental Health as our theme. We are excited to provide our members with curriculum that they can bring to their chapters, colonies and campus communities to implement and use throughout the year and focus on one’s mental health.

What is a convention without a salute competition! Salute teams may be composed of either chapter members to represent the chapter or a combination of sector members to represent a Sector.

Each team can determine who will represent them in the National Competition by doing one of the following:

  • Create a Chapter or Sector Salute Team
  • Competition among Chapters & Colonies (for Sector Teams)
  • Lottery System
  • Other

Calling All Brothers
Join this year’s Hospitality Committee for the 2016 Miami Convention

The purpose of the Lambda Theta Phi National Convention Hospitality Committee is to make all brothers feel comfortable and welcome at the 2016 Lambda Theta Phi National Convention in Miami. This is a great opportunity for brothers to meet new brothers from around the country and work with them in a leadership capacity. Learn what is essential to take an event of this magnitude to the next level and bring the experience learned back to your perspective chapter/colony.

Possible opportunities for committee members may include but are not limited to the following:

    1. Provide materials and convention information at the host site to make each and every brother feel welcome. These committee members are friendly very visible to conference attendees, presenters, conference speakers and exhibitors.
    2. Works under the leadership of the committee chair(s) and closely with the programming committee.
    3. Coordinates volunteers, serve as guides/traffic directors for locations of sessions, conference events and conference excursions. Volunteers will also scan brothers into breakout sessions utilizing their smart phone devise.
    4. Provides for the “little” touches to make the conference attendance a pleasant experience (registration table, greeters, wifi passwords, knowledge of session and rooms, promote LambdaCon app)
    5. Prepare souvenir bags for brothers.
    6. Assist with Awards Dinner set up.
    7. Submit an original idea that interests you and meets the objectives of the Lambda Theta Phi National Convention Hospitality Committee.
