Election Notice

Electronic voting ballot links will be sent out on Monday, July 9th to your email on LambdaNet. The voting ballots will be sent from ballotbin.com. Please check your inbox (and spam box) and safe the email to cast your vote. A test email will be sent 1 week ahead of time. Voting will take start on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 12:00 PM EST and end on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 12:00 PM CST.

If you do not receive your ballot by Tuesday, July 10th, please contact elections@lambda1975.org.

Nomination Procedures
  1. Please thoroughly read the duties and requirements for each National Director position to determine if you are eligible to run for the position. This information can be found in the National Constitution as well as the Administration Policy Manual.
  2. Brothers eligible to run for the National Executive Board or Board of Trustees must submit their nomination packet to the elections committee by April 29th (EXTENDED for specific positions) by using the online submission form that was communicated out.
  3. Nomination packet consists of a letter of intent specifying the desired position a brother would like to run for, completed application, required documentation, and a current Fraternal Resume qualifying him for the position.
  4. Brothers will also be required to submit copies of credentials as proof to determine eligibility for the desired position (i.e. Diploma/official transcripts, driver’s license, etc.).
  5. Please email all documents to elections@lambda1975.org.
  6. Upon receipt of all items, brothers will be sent a confirmation email stating that their submission has been received.
National President

The National President serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Lambda Theta Phi. This position is responsible for developing goals, establishing objectives, defining roles, refining the vision, securing the safety and stability of the Fraternity.

Please refer to Article IV Section 1 (page 13) of the National Constitution for the duties and responsibilities of a National President.

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a baccalaureate degree for a minimum of two years prior to serving in the position.
  2. Must be an active dues paying brother no less than the two consecutive years prior to the election.
  3. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Must be at least 24 years of age or older.
  5. Must have served as a past National Director or as an elected position within our fraternity structure as an alumnus in the prior one year.

 

Vice President

The National Vice President serves in a momentous role on the National Executive Board and is second in line to the National President. This position is responsible for assisting, supporting, and ensuring the goals and objectives of the National President are met.

Please refer to Article IV Section 2 (page 14) of the National Constitution for the duties and responsibilities of a National Vice President.

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a baccalaureate degree for a minimum of two years prior to serving in the position.
  2. Must be an active dues paying brother no less than the two consecutive years prior to the election.
  3. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Must be at least 24 years of age or older.
  5. Must have served as a past National Director or as an elected position within our fraternity structure as an alumnus in the prior one year.
Director of Finance

The National Director of Finance serves in an instrumental role on the National Executive Board. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful financial stability of the Fraternity and assist with continued growth through careful and proactive planning.

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a baccalaureate degree for a minimum of one year in finance/accounting or have related work experience in the financial field.
  2. Must be an active dues paying brother no less than the two consecutive years prior to the election.
  3. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Previous or related experience in the position at the Regional/Sector level preferred.
  5. Must be at least 23 years of age or older.
  6. Experience with QuickBooks, PayPal, and Corporate Credit Cards.

 

Director of Communications

The National Director of Communications is an integral member of the National Executive Board and is third in line to the President. This position is responsible for ensuring the members of the organization are informed of what is occurring on a national level across the country, getting in contact with media outlets to showcase the accomplishments of the organization and ensure compliance of all policies and procedures within the organization.

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a baccalaureate degree for a minimum of one year prior to serving in the position.
  2. Must be an active dues paying brother no less than the two consecutive years prior to the election.
  3. Must be active two years prior to taking office.
  4. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Previous or related experience in the position at the Sector/Regional level preferred.

 

Director of Induction

The National Director of Induction serves in a significant role on the National Executive Board. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful and continued growth of new members through careful and proactive planning.

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a baccalaureate degree for a minimum of two years prior to serving in the position.
  2. Must be an active dues paying brother no less than the two consecutive years prior to the election.
  3. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Must have previous experience as an Induction Officer at the Sector, District, and Regional level.
  5. Must be at least 23 years of age or older.
Director of Expansion

The National Director of Expansion plays a vital role on the National Executive Board. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful expansion of new entities of Lambda Theta Phi.

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a baccalaureate degree for a minimum of one year.
  2. Must be an active dues paying brother no less than the two consecutive years prior to the election.
  3. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Previous or related experience in the position at the Sector level preferred.
  5. Ability to prioritize, organizes, manage and multitask.
  6. Understand Fraternity and University policies and procedures as they pertain to expansion.
  7. Must be at least 23 years of age or older.
Director of Collegiate & Academic Affairs

The National Director of Collegiate & Academic Affairs serves in a considerable role on the National Executive Board. This position is responsible for ensuring the success of academic performance through careful and proactive planning based on proven research methods

Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a baccalaureate degree for a minimum of one year prior to serving in the position.
  2. Must be an active dues paying member for minimum two years.
  3. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Previous or related experience in the position at the Sector/Regional level preferred
Director of Alumni Affairs

The National Director of Alumni Affairs serves in a critical role on the National Executive Board. This position is responsible for serving as the liaison and an advocate for the best interest of Alumni.

Director of Community Affairs

The Director of Community Affairs serves in a substantial role on the National Executive Board. This position is responsible for guidance and overall direction of the fraternity’s vision and mission regarding Philanthropic and Community Service efforts, while ensuring the success of community service programs/initiatives for the Fraternity.

Director of Membership Development

The National Director of Membership Development is the officer responsible for the development and promotion of the Lambda Institute, management of member benefits packages and the promotion of retention and if necessary, revival of undergraduate entities.

Board of Trustee

The mission of the Lambda Theta Phi Board of Trustees is to provide oversight and guidance to the National Executive Board (NEB) of Lambda Theta Phi, and its constituent parts (including the officially recognized Foundation), regarding programming, budgeting, and overall direction, consistent with Lambda Theta Phi’s mission, goals, and objectives.

Qualifications:

  1. Each member of the Board of Trustees shall be a member of the Fraternity in good standing
  2. have served on the National Board in an elected position or have been a brother for more than 25 years and contiguously active within the 6 most recent years or the National Review Committee, and must be at least thirty (30) years of age at the time of appointment.
  3. The members shall possess outstanding business or professional ability and shall be capable of representing the Board of Trustees and the Fraternity under all conditions.

Exiting National Board Directors of the Fraternity at the time of elections shall not be eligible for membership on the Board of Trustees, except the current National President as set forth in (section 9.2).

Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How do I vote?

All eligible brothers will receive an email, where you can vote through the link provided or vote through BallotBin.com directly and entering the ‘Voting Code.’ It is important that we have brothers’ most updated email, as that will be the email used to send out the voting instructions. Please see FAQ #5 if you have any questions or concerns regarding your registered email address or status.

  1. Where can I vote?

Brothers will be able to vote online during this upcoming National Convention. The Election Committee will set up voting stations outside the convention rooms at predetermined times throughout the convention. You can also vote through any device with internet access at BallotBin.com and follow the voting instructions received. Absentee voters will be able to vote online as well. Please refer to FAQ#3 as to when the ballot will be open for voting.

  1. When can I vote?

Elections will take place starting Monday, July 9, 2018 at 12:00 PM EST and end on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 12:00 PM CST. During this time, brothers will be able to vote at convention or as an absentee voter.

  1. What do I need to do so I can vote?

You need to be registered in LambdaNet and be an Active Brother in good standing. To be an Active Brother you must have paid dues during the 2018 Fiscal Year. The deadline to pay your dues and still be able to vote was April 15, 2018 at 11:59 PM EDT.

  1. What if I am not on the National Database?

If there are any issues with your information missing from the National Database, LambdaNet, please contact the Executive Director Jarrod Cruz at jarrod.cruz@lambda1975.org.

  1. How do I know if I am active?

All Active Brothers would have paid dues during the 2018 Fiscal Year. All Active Brothers with voting rights are listed in the National Active Brother Roster. A list of active brothers will be distributed by your Regional Vice Presidents.

  1. Will there be absentee voting?

Yes, please refer to FAQ #2.

  1. Can I ask the candidates questions?

Yes, Brothers can ask the candidates questions when the candidate announcement is made via the national communications newsletter. Contact information for the candidates will be available on the election website online at http://www.thelambdas.org/?page_id=2258. Candidates should also be available to answer questions at the National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri.

  1. Will we be able to ask the candidates questions prior to the National Convention?

Brothers are at liberty to question the candidates prior to the National Convention. However, their response is at the candidate’s discretion.

  1. Is there a site to view their platforms?

All candidates are encouraged to advertise their goals and objectives through the National Convention website only. Unlike past years, we will be limiting the distribution of campaign materials via social media and other public forms of communication that might be open to non-Brothers to eliminate the sharing of confidential fraternal information (see FAQ #11). The National Election Committee will oversee and maintain a centralized web-accessible location where all candidate platforms and materials will be available to the Brotherhood. Additionally, the National Elections Committee will compile a document which contains a formal statement from each candidate. The link will be distributed via an official committee communication.

  1. How should brothers conduct themselves during the election?

Brothers should always conduct themselves in accordance with the Brother Code of Conduct which can be found in the Administrative Policy Manual. The Election Committee would like to highlight the following basic expectations of the Brotherhood throughout the election season:

  • No Brother shall reveal Fraternity secrets, rituals, or confidential information.
  • I will not publicly defame the fraternity and/or any other organization or person.
  • I will make the necessary precautions to ensure that any speech does not negatively reflect on the fraternity or disclose any confidential information.

The National Election is an internal process for our Brothers only. Any violation of the Brother Code of Conduct during the election can result in the loss of your voting right. It is important that all information related to the election be kept internal and within the realm of our brotherhood, and not shared or distributed via public mediums, such as social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) or email communication that may include non-Brothers (e.g. list serves or direct email).

  1. Are there rules for campaigning?

Yes, all candidates are provided the campaigning rules and code of ethics. Candidates will be held to accountable for their actions and are required to adhere to all campaign regulations. If you should have any specific questions, please feel free to contact the National Elections Committee, elections@lambda1975.org.

  1. Who will be counting the votes?

How will in-person votes be counted? All votes will be automatically tallied by the voting system to reduce the possibility of errors and then verified by the election committee after polls have been closed, with direct oversight of the Board of Trustees. The election committee will also verify all submitted ballots and the fraternal status (e.g. active or inactive) of each voting brother.

  1. When will we know the results?

The results will be announced during the National Convention’s Awards Dinner on Saturday, July 14, 2018 around 9:00 PM CST.

  1. When will the newly elected officers take office?

Per the National Constitution, newly elected National Officers take office on August 1, 2018.

  1. Are candidates permitted to run on a “ticket” or “platform”?

Candidates are permitted to run together on a “ticket” or “platform” for campaign purposes, but are voted into their respective positions individually.

  1. Do I have to vote for a “ticket” or “platform”?

No, each position is voted for individually regardless of their affiliation or alignment. Mixing and matching candidates is possible. Please vote for the candidate you feel is most qualified for that specific position and not for a group of candidates based solely on their affiliation.

  1. What are endorsements and are they permitted during National Elections?

The definition of an endorsement is a formal or official statement of support or approval. There will be no formal endorsements allowed during the 2018 Election. Such endorsements will not be posted on any candidate website or transmitted via electronic means or channels such as list-serves or social media.

  1. How can I support a candidate if endorsements are not permitted?

Brother can support whomever they choose through an informal means directly through one-on-one contact, but not on any public forum. To remain consistent with FAQ #18, informal support will not be posted on a candidate’s website or transmitted via electronic means/channels.

  1. What should I do if I notice a clear violation of the policies and procedures set forth by the Election Committee?

All comments and concerns should be sent via email to elections@lambda1975.org and will be addressed with oversight from the Board of Trustees.
